Young and Beautiful
When she was young and beautiful
you were a drop of rain
when she was young and beautiful
you were a reflection at her window pane
and when her tears began to fall
in the darkness you would call
I know I'm just one single star
and oh, so very far
but I know you
are young and beautiful
When she was young and beautiful
you were an ocean wave
When she was young and beautiful
you were the softest whisper that always kept her brave
and when the sun would sink down low
and the darkness enveloped
You'd whisper close within her ear
Don't worry, now.. I'm here
for I know you
are young and beautiful
When she was young and beautiful
you were her piece of sky
when she was young and beautiful
you were the shadows that always caught her eyes
and when the rain would come down hard
you'd stay steadfast where you are
and tell her the sun is up your sleeve
If only she believed
for I know you
are young and beautiful
When she grew older and very beautiful
You were her ship at sea
when she grew older and very beautiful
you sailed close by her destiny
she stood in darkness on the sand
and your shadow took her hand
Who are you, she whispered then
Don't ask yet, let's begin
for love can be so young and beautiful
When she grew older and stunningly
beautiful
you were laughter by her side
when she grew older and still stunningly beautiful
Your eyes, they held so much pride
She held your baby in her arms
cradled soft, and deep and warm
and when you saw her rocking in the chair
You whispered by the stairs
For I know you
are oh so, beautiful
when she grew older and softly
beautiful
you were the wisdom of her days
when she grew older and softly beautiful
Together you watched your grandchildren play
and you knew much happiness
for your lives were filled with bliss
You held her so, with tenderness
and said, love... remember this
Our lives are such
so rich and beautiful
When she grew frail and yet so
beautiful
you gently held her hand
when she grew frail and yet so beautiful
you were the one to understand
The loved ones gathered near
You whispered stories in her ear
about a rain drop that once fell
The secrets you knew well
For I've known you
Since you were young and beautiful
when she grew Weak and gracefully
beautiful
you were the universe
When she grew weak... and so gracefully beautiful
She was your heart, and you were hers
Until the nightfall came one day
and took her blue eyes away
You broke down for the loss of your wife
but felt consoled from a fulfilling life
You've known a world
so full and beautiful
When you were old, and life was
lonely
She was a drop of rain
When you were old, and oh, so lonely
She was a reflection at your window pane
A great great grand child was born
On a gentle Summer's morn
They placed this new life in your arms
Cradled safe and deep, and warm
Oh, smallest one
Your life's just begun
And oh, Dear God
So young and beautiful...
