When You Take A Look At Me
When you take a look at me and
only see my height and weight and girth,
You are not seeing the whole of me. You are not seeing my worth.
You don't see my personality, my warmth, or my charms.
Only my belly, my thighs, my butt, my arms.
You don't see the beauty of the human inside.
You only see the fat, fifty-four inches wide.
You forget about the heart of the woman before you
You mock me and ask, "How can anyone adore you?"
And with that I speak as I hold my head up high.
"I will answer you truthful. I will not lie."
It is people like you that made me what I am today.
People who weren't taught respect that had mean things to say.
And with each cruel word my courage resolves,
The fear goes away and the pain dissolves.
I will overcome your words. I will stay strong.
I will be loved. I will belong.
Your words have no weight where it really counts.
They are meant to destroy me, but I am here to announce,
They've no power over me. Your words mean nothing to me.
And if you don't believe me then just wait and see.
For I will find the one who will love me and let me be me.
And if love doesn't befall me then I will learn to love me.
I will take all your words and turn them around.
I will use them for empowerment and not be bound
By the torture and torment the world has to give,
And I will live by the motto, "Live and let live!"
