A Lesson Already Learned

My bedpost broke
while I was eating my
tiramisu

I had heard
of a woman
who had reached
250 lbs.

and a similar thing happened:
the pegs in her chair
groaned
and then broke

at an Easter dinner
As you can imagine
her family was there

Her appetite
was spoiled for life

So I was ready for this
Knowing these things happen
I moved to the chair
and finished scraping
the cake
from the inside
of the box,
I took
the leg to the shop
and had it fixed.
