"Why do people do that to others?"
They know that your vulnerable and in trying to prove to themselves that *they* aren't, they drag others down with them. Here's some insight, don't know if you can relate or not, but what the heck it's worth a try right?
Here in the mid-atlantic, the most popular type of seafood is crabs. Now I'm not talking about King Crab or Snow Crab or Dungeoness Crab. There is a species here that is only found in the Chesapeake Bay, no where else on Earth can you find the Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab. And people here go absolutely nuts over them.
I was raised near the Bay and to this day I still live very close to it (about an hours drive away). My father always had a boat and we always went fishing and crabbing. I used to catch crabs from piers and boat docks. We would put them into large bushel baskets (the same as are/were used in Apple orchards). Well, the crabs were fine in the baskets, as long as there were at least two in the basket at all times. If there was just one, it would climb up the sides using it's claws and legs and escape. But when there were several, when one would try and climb up and out, the other crabs would pull him back down with them. They prevented his escape.
Now I'm sure that I have you completely confused as to just what the heck my point is, but just for a moment, try and find a similarity between the crabs in the basket and what happened to you at school.
The other kids taunted and teased you, they held you back from escaping. They kept you from seeing the *real* truth, a truth that they themselves couldn't see. Neither they nor you could see past your weight. You couldn't look at the *real, inner* you without seeing the "Fat Girl" on the outside. The other kids and maybe even your family and friends kept you from being able to escape the stereotype of "fat and ugly". They kept pulling you back down into the basket with them! Now do you see the similarity????
What you need to do Jenna, is to put away those feelings, stick them into a trash can in your mind and forget that they ever existed! Stuff the words and the pictures that you have carried around inside of you for all of these years, right into that trash can and let them go Jenna!
Those memories, feelings and thoughts didn't apply to you back then and they don't apply to you now. So it is time to put them away, the same as you did with the toys of your youth when you grew up into the beautiful, vibrant young woman that you have become. Forget the past, you can't change it, but you haven't got to live with it every day either.
You are a young, strong, determined and vivacious woman, one who is going to be a mother soon, think of all the things that you will be able to protect your *child* from. Even if your child isn't overweight, somebody will find something to use on them to try and drag them back down into the basket with the rest of the crabs, DON'T LET THEM DO IT!! You can save that child, the same way that *you* wanted and needed to be saved.
So don't give in to the spectors of the past Jenna, they are only ghosts and shadows in the fog of your memory. Toss them out like yesterdays news, afterall, isn't that what they *REALLY* are. Turn your face upwards Jenna, look up into the sunlight of the new day, let it warm your face, body and soul. It's easy to be depressed and in pain, just be lazy and lie around and think about it. But to live, you have to make an effort! You have got to work at it! So do it Jenna!! I know you can......
BTW, personally, I think you were actually quite cute back then!! And even more attractive now!! :)
